Hiking
Hiking is one of the most beautiful sports activities, gathering nature enthusiasts from Montenegro and abroad. Mojkovac offers countless hidden gems, with mountain peaks of Bjelasica, Sinjajevina, and Proscenskih within an hour’s drive from the center.
Rafting on Tara
The Tara River, nicknamed the “Tear of Europe”, is one of the greatest natural treasures of Mojkovac municipality. Its canyon is 78 km long and 1300 m deep, making it the most substantial and attractive in Europe. Organized competitions and leisure activities, like the famous Tara rafting, traverse by the primeval forest of Crna Poda.
Bjelasica Mountain
Bjelasica Mountain is one of the most beautiful mountains in Montenegro, offering stunning landscapes, abundant sources of water, streams, and lakes, making it a significant resource for livestock development.
Zabojsko Lake
Surrounded by dense coniferous and beech forest, Zabojsko Lake is located in the northeastern part of Sinjajevina, protected under strict preservation within NP Durmitor. It is among the deepest lakes in Montenegro, home to stream trout, and is also stocked with Californian trout.
Durmitor National Park
This astonishing national park, carved by glaciers, is interspersed by rivers and underground streams. Along the Tara River canyon, dense pine forests alternate with clear lakes, housing a wide spectrum of endemic flora. Durmitor is an imposing limestone massif located in the north of Montenegro, belonging to the Dinaric Alps, and is also the name of the largest protected area in Montenegro, Durmitor National Park.
Hunting and Fishing
Parts of two national parks: Durmitor with Tara canyon and Biogradska Gora fall within Mojkovac municipality. The areas are home to diverse fauna including Zetska brown trout, alpine newts, falcons, hawks, owls, storks, black ibises, and others which are protected by law. Hunting is possible under specific regulations, but it is prohibited in Durmitor and Biogradska Gora National Parks.
